I went to The George Tavern last night to see indie/alternative band second thoughts.
The band attracted a young crowd, mostly in their late teens, with a few older men scattered around. Tummyache took the stage first, to perform a stripped back duo set with just Soren Bryce and Bianka Baranova. They’re playing a full band set at the same venue next week.
Next up was SOMOH, the solo project of London-based Sophia Mohan. I was particularly excited for SOMOH, as I am a huge fan of her new EP ‘A Plan to Get Home‘, and I’d missed her previous sets around London. Her silky voice was soothing and emotive against her gentle guitar chords.
After a lovely, chilled and laidback set from SOMOH, second thoughts took the stage and brought the energy. They performed every song off their new EP ‘fluke‘, as well as some new unreleased ones, and the OG classics, like ‘nicotine stains‘. The demographic was a nice mix of younger teenage fans and older ‘dad’ fans. Something I didn’t realise before the gig was that the band pass around singing duties between three of the band members. I loved this change of pace, compared to bands that usually just have one person singing throughout the entire set.
