I’ve been a listener of Australian artist Phoebe Go for just under a year now so, naturally, I was really excited when she announced she’d be coming to the UK for a few shows. I honestly didn’t think I’d see her live any time soon. Getting here from Australia is such a trek, so getting to hear her live with a full band was such a treat.
Although she only has an EP out, she played a full 45 minute set, packed with unreleased bangers and sad girl songs. During the set, I realized how similar her sound was to another one of my favorite bands, Babygirl. My favorite unreleased song was a more upbeat, instant classic for me, called ‘you were never mine’. Honorable mention goes to ‘stupid’, whose lyrics were really hitting home for me!
I was happy to find out she brought some vinyl copies of her EP over to sell. She previously had them on Bandcamp, but shipping costs from Australia were astronomical. Obviously, I had to pick up a copy!!
