I first discovered Dizzy when MUNA remixed one of their songs back in 2020. Since then, I’ve loved everything they’ve released. They have successfully filled the Canadian indie pop-shaped hole in my heart.
The Waiting Room has to be one of my favorite smaller venues in London. It’s crazy how good the sound is for such a small basement venue. The demographic at the gig was very random, to be honest. It was a mix of Rough Trade dads and tote bag-carrying teenagers, with a few older people mixed in. Although the demographic was so varied, everyone seemed to know the words, and come together to dance.
The setlist consisted of old and new songs, with 1 or 2 unreleased songs thrown in the mix. Frontwoman Katie Munshaw’s voice quite literally blew me away — she sounded even better than the studio recordings! I am particularly a huge fan of Dizzy’s singles off their upcoming self-titled album, due out in August via Communion Records.
